Kids In
The Kitchen
Kids are interested in everything
that we do. Cooking is a great thing to start teaching them at
an early age. I grew up in a family full of great cooks and chefs.
Watching them prepare wonderful meals or just a good sandwich
was always fun to me and developed my love for cooking.
The eclair cake is kid friendly and
would be fun for kids to help with. They can make the pudding
and line the pan with graham crackers. Remember that a few crackers
might be missing and a couple licks of pudding might get eaten,
but they will have fun and be proud that they helped with a special
dessert.
Here are some fun ways to encourage
your kids in the kitchen:
| * |
At
the toddler age, you could put a play kitchen in the kitchen.
You can give them the empty boxes of pasta, rice, etc. and
while you are cooking, they can cook too. |
| * |
If
a toddler wants to watch you cook, put them in their high
chair so that they can see and explain to them what you are
doing. |
| * |
As
they get a little older, if they show interest in cooking,
buy little cook books so they can pick out things they would
like to make. |
| * |
Encourage
your kids to make a least one thing they enjoy so they can
become experts at it. |
Having your kids help in the kitchen
is fun when you can share your knowledge of cooking.
