fish's flesh should be firm to the touch.

the salmon smells at all fishy, choose a different fillet
or steak.

Do
not wrap salmon in plastic wrap. It can trap bacteria and
speed up non-freshness.

Fresh
fish should be used within 1 to 2 days.
