How to Pick a Pepper

The sweet pepper is an important cooking ingredient in Central America, Asia, The Mediterranean and is native to South America. This mild pepper is in the same family as the red hot chili pepper.

Green, red, yellow and orange sweet peppers can be used in a variety of ways. They can be grilled or roasted, used raw in salads or stuffed.

When you choosing a pepper, whether mild or hot, it should have bright color and good shape. They should not be bruised, broken or cut, and should be firm. The stalk of membrane and seeds should be removed before use. Peppers will keep refrigerated in a covered container for 5 days.
