How to Pick,
Juice and Zest a Lemon!
There is something about fresh squeezed
lemons that makes everything smell and taste better. Here are some
quick tips for getting the juice of a lemon.
| * |
Before
you cut your lemon to juice, roll the lemon on the counter
top with the palm of your hand. Don't be shy, roll it hard.
This helps to get all the juice from the lemon. |
| * |
If
you only need a tablespoon or so of the lemon juice, simply
pierce the skin with a sharp wood or metal skewer and squeeze
out the amount needed. |
| * |
One
lemon will yield about 3 tablespoons of juice. |
| * |
When
choosing your lemons, pick the ones that are deep with yellow
color. Lemons do not ripen after they are picked. |
| * |
If
you don't have a zester or grater, simply take a sharp knife
and cut the yellow peel off the lemon. Be careful not to get
the white bitter membrane beneath the peel. |
