Bolognese Sauce

Ingredients
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 medium onions, chopped
2 cloves of garlic, crushed
1 pound ground beef
8 ounces of small mushrooms, chopped
2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
16 ounce can tomatoes with their liquid, crushed
1/2 cup tomato paste
1 tablespoon chopped fresh oregano
4 cups water

Directions
Heat the oil in a heavy-bottom pan, add the onion and stir over medium heat for 3 minutes or until onion is soft. Add garlic, stir for 1 minute. Add the ground beef and cook over high heat for 5 minutes until the meat is well browned and all the liquid has evaporated. Use fork to break up any lumps of beef as it cooks.

Add mushrooms, basil, crushed tomatoes with liquid, tomato paste, oregano, and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer. Cooked uncovered, for 1 1/2 hours, or until the sauce has reduce and thickened.

Serve over cooked fettuccine, regular spaghetti, or penne.
